Olivia Wilde and True Botanicals Host a Summer Gathering in Los Angeles to Benefit Time’s Up in Los Angeles
the clouds lifted just in time for a sunset summer gathering on the terrace of West Hollywood’s iconic Sunset Tower Hotel hosted by Olivia Wilde and True Botanicals (the all-natural skin-care line for which she is chief brand activist). The actress and newly minted feature film director—Wilde had just finished filming Booksmart, a female-focused comedy that was also penned and produced by women—invited a cast of fellow changemakers to sip floral-infused cocktails and talk activism while benefiting Time’s Up.
“I haven’t worn makeup or brushed my hair for months so I really scrubbed up for tonight,” said Wilde as she greeted friends including musician Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, stylist Karla Welch, designer Clare Vivier, and Wilde’s Conscious Commerce business parter Barbara Burchfield. Also in attendance were Booksmart castmembers Billie Lourd, Diana Silvers, and Kaitlyn Dever, who were in the mood to celebrate, having wrapped the movie just two days ago. “I have so much faith in the future of Hollywood after working with these amazing girls,” said Wilde. “They are so smart and talented.” As night fell, talk turned to the recent primary elections in California (Wilde is developing an app to encourage more people to go to the polls) and the abortion referendum in Ireland (Karen O had played in Dublin the week of the vote). Surveying the gathering, True Botanicals founder Hillary Peterson quoted Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
