For the first time in many months, I was well rested – reenergized and refreshed. Had a good 9-10 hours of sleep. With summer around the corner, started catching up on TV shows I screen-cap for the blog. I was half through completing 2018 Cannes thread and feeling really alert, I thought it would be the right time to watch Episode 2 (S6) of The Americans.
Admittedly, I’ve a love-hate relationship with the spy show. More fondness in recent times because the series managed to do something that my doctor(s) and meds consistently failed over the years – temporarily remedied my chronic insomnia. Like clockwork, I’m out like a baby in 15-20 minutes into the show.
Initially I’d contributed my unscheduled nap time to fatigue and age finally catching up on me. But then, I remembered being incredibly tired yet still got through other shows (that I didn’t like but watch it for the blog sake) without drowsing off even for few seconds.
I managed to reach the 20-minutes mark. Eyes were getting heavy and my head was slowly, very slowly nodding, on auto mode, downwards on its own accord. I blinked hard and shook my head. Focus, motherfucker!
The scene shifts to an airport terminal with Noah Emmerich doing his FBI thing. What seemed to be a catchy intro from a 80’s synth pop turned into one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard and about a minute or two later, I must have drifted off for 4-5 minutes because when I woke up, Keri was busy doing her spying thing.
There’s just something special about TA : |
I’m not going to miss the show when it goes off the air for the final time in the summer. In fact, a silent rejoice but I’ll buy the BR release – the full six seasons – and pop it on when I find it hard to sleep.
